Residents

We hope you enjoy your stay with us - please don't hesitate to ask a member of staff if we can assist you with anything, we are more than happy to help, especially if we can give you a hand taking your luggage up or down the stairs.

If you need an iron and ironing board during your stay, this can be arranged by asking a member of

staff who will bring it to your room. 

Check out time is 11am, please inform us on check in if you require a late check out (latest is 12pm for a £15 surcharge)

Breakfast is served downstairs in the main restaurant Mondays-Fridays 07:30-10am. Weekends and bank holidays 8am-10am

If you require an early check out and would like a takeaway breakfast, please ask a member of staff the evening before and this can be arranged

If you are in need of a taxi during your stay, we recommend booking in advance where possible as there are only a few operating firms in the local area.

Local Walks

We're extremely lucky to be surrounded by beautiful countryside nestled in the heart of Hampshire and with that comes glorious walks that are right on our (and your) doorstep! Ask a member of  staff to point you in the right direction whether you're in the mood for a half an hour stroll, or a a more heart-raising trail! The Pilgrim's Way from Winchester to Canterbury takes many a rambler through our quaint village as they undertake the 153 mile trek across the North Downs.

Don't forget to check out the glorious village Holy Rood church located up Church Lane (opposite the pub) surrounded by a quaint duckling pond.

Jane Austen's House

A real draw for a lot of people to soak up some literature history as the birthplace of her six novels, as well as her home. This beautiful cottage is located 10 minutes from The White Hart in nearby Chawton. There is often exhibitions scheduled but it is open for public tours all year round - be sure to check the website for up-to-date admissions

Make a day of it and visit the quintessential tea room opposite - Cassandra's Cup, aptly named after Jane Austen's sister!

Winchester

A fantastic spot to visit and only 25 mintues from The White Hart, Winchester is a must-do if time allows it. A cathedral city which oozes charm and lovely independent shops and restaurants, head to the centre and you'll find ample parking spots. The cathedral is a wonderful sight to take a closer look at and is situated right in the city centre so it really is all on your doorstep! If you're visiting at Christmas time, check out the famous Christmas Markets on from late November - early January.
