Local Walks

We're extremely lucky to be surrounded by beautiful countryside nestled in the heart of Hampshire and with that comes glorious walks that are right on our (and your) doorstep! Ask a member of  staff to point you in the right direction whether you're in the mood for a half an hour stroll, or a a more heart-raising trail! The Pilgrim's Way from Winchester to Canterbury takes many a rambler through our quaint village as they undertake the 153 mile trek across the North Downs.

Don't forget to check out the glorious village Holy Rood church located up Church Lane (opposite the pub) surrounded by a quaint duckling pond.

Jane Austen's House

A real draw for a lot of people to soak up some literature history as the birthplace of her six novels, as well as her home. This beautiful cottage is located 10 minutes from The White Hart in nearby Chawton. There is often exhibitions scheduled but it is open for public tours all year round - be sure to check the website for up-to-date admissions

Make a day of it and visit the quintessential tea room opposite - Cassandra's Cup, aptly named after Jane Austen's sister!
